SUMMARY:
Financial Accountant

POSITION INFO:

The individuals must have the following:

Minimum qualification : Bcom Degree (Accounting/Finance)
Professional Experience: The individual should have completed articles MUST have experience in fields such as financial accounting and reporting, auditing and internal audits. A sound understanding of the GRAP and IFRS and the PFMA is also required.
Pastel Evolution experience

Roles and Responsibilities

The scope of work of the Financial Accountant will include but not limited to:

Review of the year-end schedules i.e Reconciliation of FAR that complies with standards of GRAP; to the GL, Accrual schedule, etc.
Preparation of working papers to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the financial system;
Review of the monthly general ledger reconciliations by the 20th of the following month and resolve all queries;
Review of the WIP unbundling GL accounts;
Review of the verification sheets and prepare a report of findings;
Clear all the verification findings;
Review results of the inventory count;
Review of the monthly Fixed Asset Register
Review of the monthly depreciation
Review of the monthly GL reports;
Attend to queries by internal and external auditors;
Update financial procedures as maybe required;
Participate as needed in financial accounting team initiatives by contributing expertise and knowledge within own area of expertise;
Provide backup assistance to other members of the team as required;
Research and investigate correct accounting treatment in respect of specific transactions and prepare working papers where needed;
Any other activities as requested by the Senior Manager: Finance
