POSITION INFO:
My client is looking for a capable and detailâdriven Financial Assistant to support the finance function with transactional processing, reconciliations, reporting, and administrative finance tasks.

The role requires a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to manage financial data accurately while supporting internal teams and external suppliers.

This role is based in Isando, Johannesburg East.

Key Responsibilities:

Capture and update daily financial transactions into accounting records and spreadsheets
Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and reconciliations
Monitor, reconcile, and resolve differences on bank accounts
Compile cost reports by analysing fixed and variable expenses
Support the processing of tax-related payments and documentation
Assist with monthly payroll processes and maintain accurate payroll records
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely manner
Prepare, verify, and follow up on supplier and customer invoices
Provide administrative assistance during budgeting and forecasting processes
Support internal and external audit activities through accurate recordâkeeping and document preparation
Respond to supplier queries and resolve issues efficiently and professionally
Assess blocked supplier accounts caused by credit limits, terms, or licensing issues and communicate promptly with relevant parties
Perform creditor reconciliations and ensure all balances are correctly accounted for
Allocate payments to supplier accounts using remittance information
Distribute monthly remittance advice to suppliers
Maintain high standards of supplier service through accurate, efficient, and timely financial administration

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Matric
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Previous experience in a finance assistant, finance officer, or similar accounting role
Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting processes
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial formulas and spreadsheets
Experience working with accounting systems (e.g. Pastel Evolution)
Proven ability to prepare accurate and reliable financial reports
