SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to perform professional accounting work, supporting financial management, reporting, and control within a highly regulated environment. The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, sound professional judgement, and the ability to operate independently while engaging effectively with senior stakeholders across the business.

POSITION INFO:
The business is a longâestablished organisation operating within the financial services and insurance sector, with a history spanning more than a century. Over time, it has evolved beyond its traditional foundations into a diversified financial services group, serving a broad client base across South Africa and selected international markets. The organisation places strong emphasis on governance, compliance, risk management, and financial sustainability.

Duties

Prepare, review, and post journals and maintain general ledger integrity
Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Support monthâend and yearâend close processes, including preparation of trial balances and financial statements
Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations
Prepare and review income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reporting for designated areas
Ensure compliance with IFRS, the Income Tax Act, the VAT Act, and internal financial policies
Investigate complex accounting matters, incidents, and variances and provide expert guidance
Support financial controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance initiatives
Provide financial analysis and modelling input into business cases, costs, and schedules
Prepare and coordinate financial data, analytics, and management reports
Provide specialist financial advice and engage with senior management and stakeholders

Skills & Experience:

BCom in Accounting or a related field (Essential)
Articles completed (Advantageous)
Minimum 4–6 years’ experience as an Accountant within the Insurance or Financial Services sector (Preferred)
