A technological innovation company in Durban, close to the airport, is currently looking for a Financial Controller to join their finance team.

As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for supporting the companies operations by providing financial and administrative support and maintaining office processes.

As a Financial Controller, you will responsible for the following:

Provide strategic advice and direction to the General Manager and executive management team
Prepare business plans, reports, documents, and collateral as required
Streamline vendor payment processes and improve the financial health of the company
Act as the primary support person for month, quarter and year-end financial activities
Manage all accounting operations including billing, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition
Preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
Research technical accounting issues for compliance
Support month-end and year-end close process
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Maintaining relationships with external auditors and banks
Measuring company performance against external and internal benchmarks
Identifying areas to improve business efficiencies and reduce costs
Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team to deliver reports, analysis findings, potential risk areas and forecast opportunities
Collaborate with the payroll group to ensure that all deductions and payroll activities are compliant with payroll laws

Qualifications:

Post Graduate Degree in Accounting or Finance

Skills:

5 years' experience in a similar role
Attention to detail
SAP would be beneficial
Willing to travel into Africa
