About the Company
Our client operates a large-scale meat processing facility in Gauteng. With a focus on operational efficiency, production optimisation and profitability, the business requires a commercially minded Financial Manager who can integrate financial insight directly into plant operations.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Director, the Financial Manager will oversee all finance functions up to Trial Balance level while actively engaging with production processes. This role requires a strong supervisory mindset, system improvement capability, and a willingness to spend time on the plant floor understanding operational realities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the Accountant, Debtors Clerk and Admin Clerk
- Manage weekly reconciliations for bank accounts, debtors and stock
- Prepare and present financial reports covering profitability, cash flow and operational metrics
- Improve production and stock reporting systems
- Engage directly with plant operations to integrate financial insight
- Oversee cost control initiatives and identify efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with tax legislation, internal controls and audit requirements
- Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis
Requirements- BCom in Accounting or Finance plus completed Articles
- Minimum 5 years’ financial management experience
- Experience within food processing, meat industry or manufacturing advantageous
- Proven track record managing small finance teams
- Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and accounting standards
Technical Expertise & Professional Attributes- Advanced Excel capability
- ERP system proficiency such as Sage
- Hands-on leadership style
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced plant environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
