POSITION INFO:

Company and Job Description

Join a respected banking institution operating within a regulated environment, where finance plays a central role in reporting, compliance, and strategic planning.

The role combines 30% divisional reporting, 30% management accounts coordination, and 40% ownership of the annual budget and 5-year forecasting process.

Key Responsibilities

Divisional Reporting & Business Partnering (30%)

Prepare monthly divisional management information (income statement, balance sheet, cashflow)
Finalise trial balances and compile executive-level reporting packs
Track and report on key business drivers
Engage with Treasury for weekly and monthly cashflow forecasting (ALCO pack)
Work with Risk and IFRS9 specialists to review and challenge impairment reporting
Represent Finance in operational divisional meetings
Coordinate and challenge divisional budgets and forecasts
Manage audit queries and external reporting requirements

Management Reporting & Month-End Oversight (30%)

Coordinate and project manage the monthly management accounts process
Perform first-level independent review and challenge of reported numbers
Ensure month-end cut-off, data integrity, and internal controls adherence
Analyse and report on material variances (vs prior month, budget, forecast)
Act as key contact for internal and external audit queries
Oversee internal financial control reviews
Supervise and review the work of one direct report

Budgeting & 5-Year Forecast Ownership (40%)

Take ownership of the annual budget and 5-year forecasting process
Coordinate divisional submissions and consolidate at bank level
Set timelines, templates, and deliverables
Review and challenge submitted numbers
Prepare board-level consolidated disclosure packs
Present and report forecasts to executive leadership
Ensure accurate upload and reconciliation of budgets in ERP system
Maintain strict version control and reporting to Group

Stakeholder Engagement

You will engage daily with:

Product and business owners
Finance and Treasury teams

Monthly interaction with:

Chief Risk Officer
Chief Financial Officer
Chief Executive Officer

And ongoing engagement with:

Internal and external auditors

Job Experience and Skills Required

Education:

BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification
CA(SA) preferred but not essential

Experience:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in the banking industry
At least 3 years’ experience in management reporting
Proven experience coordinating month-end processes
Hands-on involvement in budgeting and forecasting cycles
Exposure to IFRS9 impairment reporting (review and challenge level)

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (essential)
Pastel Evolution experience advantageous
Strong financial modelling and analytical capability
