A well-established organisation operating within the maritime and logistics sector is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to take ownership of the finance function and partner closely with executive leadership to drive performance, profitability, and strategic growth. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the full finance function for a dynamic operating division, ensuring accurate reporting, strong governance, effective cash management, and meaningful commercial analysis. This role requires someone who can move comfortably between technical finance, leadership, and business partnering while supporting operational teams and executive stakeholders alike. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the full finance function Prepare and present accurate monthly management accounts Deliver meaningful financial reporting and business insights to leadership Ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory reporting requirements Oversee month-end, year-end, and audit processes Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Conduct profitability, revenue, and performance analysis Identify commercial opportunities, risks, and operational efficiencies Support decision-making through meaningful financial insights Partner with operational teams to improve business performance Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions Ensure compliance with SARS, CIPC, and other regulatory requirements Maintain a strong internal control environment Oversee tax compliance and financial governance processes Manage relationships with auditors and external stakeholders Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team Drive accountability and high-performance standards Implement process improvements and reporting efficiencies Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement Job Experience and Skills Required CIMA, SAIPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior finance leadership role Proven people management and team leadership experience Strong management accounting and financial reporting capability Advanced Excel skills and ERP systems experience Solid understanding of IFRS and South African tax legislation Shipping, maritime, logistics, freight forwarding, or related industry experience advantageous Who We're Looking For A commercially minded finance leader Strong communicator who can engage with operational and executive stakeholders Strategic thinker with excellent analytical ability Highly accountable and solutions-driven Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, performance-focused environment Someone who takes ownership of outcomes, not just processes This is more than a reporting role.
