Financial Manager (Insurance)

POSITION INFO:
As the Financial Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial information, supporting business performance, and providing meaningful insights to enable informed decision-making. You will work closely with internal teams, including actuarial, claims, and broader finance functions, while leading a team and contributing to process optimization initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Oversee financial reporting for the life insurance business, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of management and executive reporting. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial processes, including financial statements and audit requirements. Prepare and review financial insights, including budget vs actual analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting. Manage IFRS-related reporting requirements, including IFRS 17 and deliverables. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. Partner with actuarial, claims, and business stakeholders to drive accurate financial analysis and decision-making. Manage relationships with internal and external auditors, ensuring audit queries are effectively resolved. Oversee balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, journals, and financial controls. Support finance transformation initiatives, including system enhancements and automation opportunities. Lead and develop a finance team, promoting accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Job Experience and Skills Required: Education: Qualified CA(SA) required. Relevant BCom Accounting \/ Honours \/ CTA qualification. Experience: Minimum 5 years' post-article experience within financial services. Strong life insurance experience required. Experience with IFRS reporting, specifically IFRS 17 exposure. Experience with regulatory reporting requirements. Experience managing audits and engaging with senior stakeholders. Previous team management experience.
