Are you an experienced and dependable mechanic with a strong background in servicing and maintaining earthmoving machinery? Our client is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join their team and take responsibility for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and graders. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, has a keen eye for detail, and understands the importance of minimizing downtime in a high-demand operation. Minimum requirements:
- Valid drivers license
- Reliable transport
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Trade Test: Diesel Mechanic / Certified equivalent relevant fleet mechanical qualification
- Minimum of 5 years mechanical experience on yellow or earth moving equipment
Required skills:
- Must have mechanical skills and knowledge to fix TLB’s, Graders, Dozers, Front End Loaders, Trucks and other heavy machinery
- Must ensure that all working areas and tools are always clean and tidy
- Must have administrative and planning experience
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for breakdowns, diagnosing faults on trucks and perform major planned routine maintenance services, repairs and adhoc duties for the Fleet, Plant and Yellow Machinery as and when required
- Ensuring that the yellow earthmoving fleet is operational and repaired with as little downtime as possible
- Travelling to the job sites
- Daily inspection of checklists completed by operators
- Regular inspections of fleet, trucks, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance
- Diagnosing faults
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
- Repairing damaged equipment parts
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles
- Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and side booms
- Performing major repair work when necessary
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
Remuneration:
Salary is market related, relevant to experience
