SUMMARY:
A leading client in the food manufacturing sector is currently seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Food Safety Officer for their operations based in Pietermaritzburg.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all food safety standards, policies, and procedures are implemented and maintained in accordance with company and industry requirements. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of HACCP systems, FSSC 22000 standards, and food safety compliance within a manufacturing environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure compliance with all Food Safety and Quality standards within the plant
- Monitor and maintain HACCP systems and procedures
- Ensure adherence to FSSC 22000 standards and company policies
- Conduct regular food safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Maintain accurate food safety records, reports, and documentation
- Identify non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions
- Ensure hygiene standards are maintained throughout the production process
- Assist with internal and external food safety audits
- Conduct food safety awareness and compliance checks within the workplace
- Work closely with production and quality teams to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.

Minimum Requirements:

- Grade 12 / Matric
- 2–3 years’ proven experience within a Food Safety role in a manufacturing or food production environment
- Strong knowledge and understanding of HACCP and FSSC 22000
- Food Safety training certificates will be advantageous
- Computer Literate
- Good communication and administrative skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high hygiene and safety standards.
