Food Safety Specialist

POSITION INFO:
Our client is a leading packaging company, serving FMCG clients across South Africa. Duties:

• Manage and maintain the company’s food safety and quality systems, including internal and external audits.
• Oversee supplier compliance.
• Manage direct reports.
• Coordinate daily food safety activities.
• Drive continuous improvement projects.
• Manage customer complaints.
• Implement allergen management.
• Ensure that all processes comply with regulatory, customer, and company standards.
• Maintain accurate reporting and effective communication across teams and stakeholders.

• Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or Biotechnology. FSSC 22000/BRC or GFSI experience advantageous.
• 5+ years' FMCG industry experience in food safety, quality, or production compliance.
• Proven knowledge of scientific testing techniques and microbiological/analytical result interpretation.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Able to manage teams and liaise across departments.
• Computer literate, with attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and willingness to learn new skills.
