Job Title: Food Technologist

Our client based on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal is looking for a motivated and detail-driven Food Technologist. The ideal candidate will be experienced in product development, quality assurance, and food safety within the food manufacturing industry.

Requirements:

• National Diploma or Degree in Food Technology or Food Science

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role within the food industry

• Knowledge of R&D and food labelling regulations is essential

• Proficient in MS Word and Excel

• Ability to communicate in isiZulu and/or isiXhosa

• Willingness to work overtime and relocate if needed

Responsibilities:

• Conduct training and provide translation support where required

• Drive New Product Development (NPD) and manage R&D trials

• Perform nutritional/shelf-life sampling and costings (BOMs)

• Conduct hygiene inspections and ensure regulatory compliance

• Collect samples, perform swabbing, and analyse data

• Investigate wastage and assist with NCR tracking

• Ensure recipe adherence, packaging compliance, and traceability

• Support quality teams and oversee hygiene practices

• Monitor staff timekeeping and assist with performance management
