An experienced FORKLIFT TECHNICIAN (Field Service Specialist) is required to service various industry customers across the Northern Cape Upington region.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, breakdown repairs and inspection of forklift equipment and related machinery at customer sites and within workshop environments.
- This role is ideally suited to a technically strong, self-managed individual who enjoys working independently in the field while delivering professional service and technical support to industrial, mining, warehousing, logistics and commercial customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on forklift equipment and handling machinery.
- Conduct fault finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel, LPG and electric forklifts.
- Attend customer breakdowns and emergency call-outs.
- Inspect, test and commission equipment after repairs and maintenance activities.
- Diagnose hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and electronic system faults.
- Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation and maintenance records.
- Ensure all equipment complies with operational and safety standards.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and machine handovers where required.
- Monitor machine condition and identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
- Manage vehicle stock levels, consumables and spare parts inventory.
- Liaise with customers regarding technical findings and repair recommendations.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools and company equipment in a professional condition.
- Adhere to company SHEQ standards and site-specific safety requirements.
- Support workshop activities and technical projects when required.
- Participate in standby, overtime and after-hours breakdown support as operationally required.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Qualified Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrician, Millwright, Earthmoving Mechanic or similar technical trade.
- Min. 3 years post-trade experience in forklift maintenance and repairs.
- Previous experience working on various material handling type equipment adv.
- Experience with major forklift brands adv.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding ability.
- Knowledge of engines, transmissions, drive systems, mast assemblies, braking systems and steering systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics and workshop documentation.
- Experience with mobile diagnostic equipment and fault code analysis.
- Computer literate (MS Office and electronic service reporting systems).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver''s licence (essential).
- Willing to travel extensively within the service region.
- Ability to work overtime, standby and emergency breakdown call-outs when required.
- Strong planning, organisational and time management skills.

- Local residency in Upington or willingness to relocate.
