SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

The duties and responsibilities of this position is relevant to Collective Investment Scheme (CIS) in securities (i.e., unit trust portfolios and exchange traded funds) and include, but are not limited to:

Posting of accounting journals in Pastel
Producing Trial Balances
Drafting of annual financial reporting of Annual Financial Statements including:
- Statement of Financial Position
- Statement of Profit or Loss
- Statement of Changes in Net Assets attributable to unit holders
- Statement of cash flows
- Notes to the Financial Statements
Managing the audit process as the first point of contact for external auditors appointed as public officer for SARS and responsible for:
- Filing of annual income tax returns
- Managing SARS queries and audits
- Registering new portfolios for tax purposes
Compiling and submitting of regulatory reporting, including:
- Quarterly ASISA Stats
- Quarterly C23 reporting for SARB
- Quarterly SARB submission for institutional investors (to report on prudential limits)
Operational responsibilities include:
- Authorized signatory for instructions and payments

Qualifications and experience required:

Newly qualified CA
Auditing background with exposure to CIS portfolios
Experience as a financial accountant in the financial services industry with specific exposure to management companies and unit trust portfolios will be required
Experience in drafting of financial reporting

Core Competencies Required:

Competent in Pastel would be added advantage, but not required
Advanced Excel skills
A solid understanding of IFRS and accounting principles
Analytical and able to solve problems
Strong communication skills and able to confidently communicate and liaise with internal and external parties
Able to work independently and under pressure
