SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the role of Alternatives Fund Controller involves working across the Business to support the finance and operating activities of a number of funds across the sectors listed above

POSITION INFO:

• Act as the first point of contact for the COO, heads of business units and the funds’ administrators;
• Work closely with the investment teams and fund administrators to ensure reporting is accurate and delivered timeously;
• Work closely with the investors to ensure queries and adhoc reporting requirements are delivered;
• Manage current and future fund cash forecasts to optimize the movement and holding of cash within fund structures and to manage the timing of investor capital calls;
• Coordinate the annual audit processes for limited partnership fund structures;
• Work with the funds’ administrator and fund accountants to ensure audits are delivered effectively;
• Prepare, validate and follow up on investor drawdown and distribution notices when required;
• Facilitate the on-boarding for new investors;
• Ensure compliance with limited partnership agreements and other investment mandates,
• Monitoring transactions cost budgets;
• Build strong relationship with funds’ administrators and other divisions which provided support services;
• Monthly review of the underlying supporting financial information prepared by the fund’s administrators;
• Review investment management fee calculations;
• Collate and review the monthly fund performance and funds under management data;
• Detailed review of all monthly and quarterly investor reports prepared by each fund’s accounting team;
• Prepare consolidated quarterly multi-strategy investor reports for specific investors; and
• Prepare and/or review of content and format of ad hoc investor reporting.

Minimum requirements

• CA (SA) qualification; similar professional accounting qualification will also be acceptable
• Five or more years'' experience in fund accounting with private equity / limited partnership fund structure experience; and
• Strong attention to detail and strong financial analytical skills;
