SUMMARY:
Mozambique area – Southeast Africa: The General Manager will oversee the end-to-end operational, technical, and financial performance of the macadamia and avocado businesses — from orchard husbandry through processing and export.
The successful candidate will design and implement robust systems, enforce compliance and quality standards, and ensure the business operates with maximum efficiency, sustainability, and profitability.
This is a highly hands-on, process-oriented role requiring strong leadership, operational discipline, and experience in managing large-scale, export-focused tree-crop agricultural operations — ideally within macadamia and avocado experience.
This position is farm-based, or hybrid with regular on-site presence.
POSITION INFO:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness Management, or related field (Master's preferred). Minimum 8-10 years of senior leadership experience in large-scale horticultural or export-farming operations; direct experience with macadamia or another perennial tree\/nut crop strongly preferred. Proven expertise in process design, SOP implementation, and performance control systems. Deep knowledge of export compliance standards (GlobalG.A.P., BRC, HACCP, SMETA, Rainforest Alliance, etc.) and regulatory frameworks, including Mozambican agricultural export requirements. Demonstrated experience in cost management, operational efficiency, and profitability optimization. Strong understanding of HSE systems and compliance management. Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively at a distance, with strong delegation, remote reporting, and escalation discipline, if the hybrid working arrangement is adopted. Portuguese language proficiency is a strong advantage given the Mozambique operating environment; English required.
