A private, member owned nature reserve in the Greater Kruger area is seeking an experienced GENERAL MANAGEMENT COUPLE.

POSITION INFO:
This is a rare opportunity for a couple with complementary skill sets. One partner leading overall reserve operations and conservation and the other managing the member services function and facilities administration. Both roles demand strong leadership, a genuine service ethic, and comfort with the rhythms of a remote, wildlife rich environment. Role 1 | General Manager \/ Warden Core Criteria: Proven senior management experience in a lodge, reserve, or hospitality environment, ideally in a general manager or warden capacity Strong understanding of ecological and land management principles, or willingness to work closely with conservation bodies Experience managing a multi-department team, including performance reviews, discipline, and staff development Sound grasp of governance, supplier management, and budget control Experience overseeing security or anti-poaching operations, including firearm and licensing compliance, would be a strong advantage Excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to manage a demanding, high-expectation membership base Confident communicator, comfortable representing the reserve in regional and community forums Candidate Responsibilities: Oversee all reserve operations, ensuring alignment with governance standards and long-term strategic goals Lead and develop the management team through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and recognition initiatives Drive compliance with the reserve's land management plan and report progress in regular management updates Oversee infrastructure, roads, and facilities upkeep to the highest standard and at the lowest sustainable cost Manage supplier sourcing and quoting processes with full transparency Build and maintain strong relationships with members, resolving concerns swiftly and diplomatically Drive member communication through newsletters, notices, and personal engagement Represent the reserve in community outreach initiatives and maintain a clear community support plan Oversee the security and anti-poaching unit, ensuring strong command structure, record keeping, and legal compliance Role 2 | Member Services Facilities Manager Core Criteria: Previous experience in a member services, front office, or facilities coordination role, ideally within hospitality or a private estate Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once Advanced Excel skills strongly recommended for stock and financial reporting Comfortable managing a small team and coordinating across departments Excellent interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build trust and rapport with a demanding member base Experience with stock control, procurement, or shop management would be beneficial Candidate Responsibilities: Oversee front desk and reception operations, ensuring a professional and welcoming first point of contact Manage member requests and feedback, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution Run the on-site shop, including stock management, merchandising, and sales of slow moving items Conduct monthly stocktakes and adjustments for shop and fuel supplies Coordinate with the finance team on invoice approvals, petty cash, and fuel log accuracy Support asset repair and upgrade administration, including fire safety equipment maintenance Assist in planning key meetings, board functions, and member events Manage entry and exit permits for contractors and assist members with access related queries Maintain up to date member records, contact details, and shareholder files across all platforms Handle biannual and annual insurance administration, including claims, renewals, and member invoicing This is a live-in position, with housing provided on the reserve.
