A boutique, luxury bush lodge in a malaria-free Big 5 private reserve is seeking an experienced GENERAL MANAGER to lead its team and guest experience.
POSITION INFO:
The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality leader with a proven record running a small, high-end safari operation, equally comfortable hosting guests and managing budgets, staff and day-to-day operations in a remote bush setting. Core Criteria: Proven experience as a General Manager or Senior Lodge Manager in a luxury lodge or upmarket hospitality operation Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control and management reporting Track record of leading, training and motivating a multi-department team Sound working knowledge of front-of-house, food and beverage, housekeeping and guiding operations Proficient in stock control, procurement and lodge administration Excellent guest relations and communication skills Ability to manage a remote operation and make sound decisions independently Professional, presentable and a natural host Core Responsibilities: Oversee the overall running of the lodge, ensuring smooth daily operations Deliver and maintain exceptional guest experiences from arrival to departure Manage budgets, control costs and drive profitability Lead, coach and develop all departmental heads and staff Maintain high standards of service, hygiene, safety and presentation Oversee stock control, ordering and supplier relationships Work closely with the guiding and hospitality teams to ensure cohesive guest service Manage reservations, guest feedback and reporting to ownership Oversee maintenance requirements and the upkeep of the property On Offer: Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience Live-in position
