POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our operations in China. This is a strategic leadership role overseeing procurement, commercial activities, and operational functions within the region. The GM will play a key role in ensuring seamless integration across procurement, logistics, inventory, supplier management, and inter-departmental coordination.
As part of the leadership team, you will support strategic decision-making, drive operational efficiency, build strong supplier partnerships, and ensure successful commercial execution across the company’s global operations.
Qualifications & skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in technical operations, procurement, or general management.
- Fluent in Mandarin (reading, writing, and speaking) – essential.
- Strong technical knowledge of machinery/equipment and spare parts (advantageous).
- Commercially astute with proven experience managing budgets and supplier relationships.
- Solid understanding of procurement principles, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of delivering value-driven agreements.
- Highly analytical, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and business management software.
- Able to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic international environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership across day-to-day operations of the China regional office, aligning technical, procurement, warehouse, and sales functions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all China-based procurement and operational activities.
- Manage commercial relationships with suppliers and develop local vendor strategies in line with global business objectives.
- Represent the company in supplier negotiations, forums, and trade visits across the China region.
- Drive direct equipment and product sales to end-users globally.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that deliver value for money and align with organizational goals.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with potential suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and timely delivery standards are met.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate closely with Africa-based teams to ensure dispatch readiness, documentation compliance, and clear communication.
- Oversee and develop local staff, ensuring effective performance management, recruitment support, and team alignment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations across operations.
