Fulltime position, 42 days leave

EXTENT OF AUTHORITY:

Expenditure authority limit for this position, refer to payment approval matrix.

WORKPLACE HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisor / Manager

The General Manager POM, will ensure the implementation of and compliance with the Company’s Safety Management System, audit programmes and audit findings within the Workplace under their control and in line with the relevant Health and Safety Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. This may be through direct supervision or delegation and follow-up. The Manager/Supervisor will ensure that the recommendations from audits will be implemented in respect of the Health and Safety of themselves and the Health and Safety of other persons in the workplace including contractors and visitors

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:

The position will work closely to the CEO to manage the Companies facility and business in accordance with PNG business directions and company policies. The position is to achieve the Company’s objectives by managing the entire business and operations. The position is also to contribute at a strategic and operational level to statutory compliance and company policies, business and management decision-making.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The General Manager is responsible to the CEO for effectively and efficiently carrying out the duties and responsibilities within the agreed PNG business strategy, plus internal (For example Group Company Policies) and external compliances (Government agencies).
  • Responsible to the CEO for the most effective and cost efficient operations in line with contract compliance.
  • Managing company facilities including accommodation, mess, terminal, hanger and office work space.
  • Supervising all functional managers including immigration and government relation matters.
  • The position is to seek business opportunities to develop and expand the company by as base of operations.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Engineer, the Maintenance Controller and SBE F/W and R/W ensure effective planning of resources and maintenance whilst maintaining contract compliance.
  • Provide responses to audit findings and take definitive action develop & implement remedial/corrective action.
  • Accountable for the most cost effective utilisation of manpower and resources to meet the company customer expectations.
  • Co-ordinate all functions including Safety, Security to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, standards and practices.
  • To directly assist and advise the CEO in formulation of policy and in the determination of strategic matters, forward planning and initiatives relevant to the management and development of the Base.
  • To work closely with the Safety and Quality Systems Unit to review, revise and update all AOC and MOC manuals to ensure they accurately reflect the operations.
  • Implement, audit and review the Environmental Management Plan within the operations department, ensuring that staff are aware of and committed to the provisions and ensuring compliance by employees and contractors.
  • Ensure all staff are appropriately trained, with particular emphasis on regulatory requirements, emergency response and work place health and safety.
  • Responsible for incident reporting, follow-up, support investigation and closure.
  • Client communication and improving client relationships.
  • Staff appraisal, development, ongoing training programs and motivation.
  • Other duties required as per employee’s skill.
  • Secure and manage physical cash on premises.

Qualifications:

(Formal qualification required)

  • Formal qualifications in aviation industries are desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Expertise:

  • Proven leadership ability
  • Proven successful experience in a similar position would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated management skills, particularly in managing complex organizational projects and a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated high level of written ability in areas such as preparation of reports, correspondence and procedural manuals.
  • Proven experience in asset management and in the supervision and direction of staff and contractors involved in that work.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety and security related work with a good appreciation of the high standards required in the aviation industry.

People Oriented Skills & Attributes and Physical Attributes;

  • Demonstrated well developed interpersonal communication skills.
