German Speaking Accountant

SUMMARY:

Our client, is looking for a German-Speaking Accountant to join their team in Cape Town. This role will report directly to the Head of our German Branch and will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting in line with German accounting standards.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain financial records in accordance with HGB (German GAAP) principles
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
• Ensure compliance with German statutory and reporting requirements
• Liaise closely with the Head of the German Branch and relevant stakeholders
• Assist with audits and financial reporting requirements
• Maintain accurate data within the Datev system

Requirements:

• 3–5 years’ experience in accounting or a similar financial role
• Strong working knowledge of HGB (German GAAP)
• Experience working with Datev accounting software
• Fluent in both German and English (written and spoken)
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred:

• Based in Cape Town or willing to relocate
