Group Accountant

SUMMARY:
Responsible for Treasury, Tax and Annual Financial Statements functions of the business as well as liaising with the external auditor and financial consultants during engagements.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

• Minimum BCom or relevant tertiary degree in accounting
• A newly qualified CA will be highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in the accounting and/or related industry or completed articles
• Should be able to work in a structured environment
• Ability to understand and manage corporate compliance to SA Corporate tax requirements
• Must have solid IFRS knowledge
• Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Sharepoint knowledge will be advantageous
• SAP & Caseware knowledge will be advantageous
• The ability to sustain high performance in a pressured environment
• Good leadership and motivational skills
• Must be a self-starter and be able to work with little supervision
• Must have a team-oriented approach and manage change in a dynamic environment
• Be able to identify improvement areas and/or initiatives
• Have the ability to handle conflict and be assertive
• Compile implementation plans to achieve business compliance

Key Result Areas:

• Preparing Annual Financial Statements for all SA Group companies as well as Consolidated Group
• Preparing final and provisional tax calculations for all SA group companies and providing support
• Preparing of monthly deferred tax calculations
• Calculation of monthly VAT status and submissions of VAT returns for local group companies
• Assist with Reviewing weekly forecasted cash flows for reasonability and potential concerns
• Managing drawdown of banking funds process to ensure that sufficient cash is available
• Review electronic payments for validity and accuracy
• Authorisation of reviewed payments on banking profiles
• Manage the financial audit process and liaise with auditors and external financial consultants
• Ensure an adequate internal control environment is maintained
• Weekly and/or Monthly Bank reporting
• Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation reviews for all group companies
• Compile information required for quarterly SA Reserve Bank and Statistics SA reports
• Overall responsibility for all banking functions and liaising with banks where required
• Provide technical accounting support to the rest of the business and the finance team
