SUMMARY:

An exciting opportunity exists for a seasoned CA(SA) to step into a Group CFO role on a maternity cover basis. This position is best suited to a strategic yet handsâon finance leader who can provide stability, oversight, and commercial insight within a fastâpaced and evolving environment.

POSITION INFO:
Our client is a growing group operating within the renewable energy and broader commercial space. They are seeking an experienced Group Chief Financial Officer to provide executiveâlevel financial leadership during a maternity cover period, commencing ASAP.

Based in Fourways, the Group CFO will oversee the full group finance function, lead a small senior finance team, and partner closely with executive leadership to ensure strong financial governance, reporting accuracy, and strategic support. While experience within the solar or renewable energy sector will be advantageous, candidates from other complex, projectâbased environments will also be considered.

This role requires a confident leader who can quickly embed themselves into the business, manage stakeholders effectively, and maintain momentum during the cover period.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic financial leadership to the executive team and Board
Oversee the full group finance function, including reporting, controls, and compliance
Manage and develop a team of 3 direct reports
Ensure accurate monthâend, quarterâend, and yearâend financial reporting
Maintain strong financial governance, risk management, and internal controls
Drive budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management at a group level
Partner with leadership on commercial, operational, and strategic initiatives
Oversee the effective use and integrity of the finance system (Xero)

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:
- CA(SA) qualification (essential)
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years’ postâarticles experience in senior financial leadership roles
- Previous experience at a Group CFO / Finance Director level or equivalent
- Exposure to the solar, renewable energy, or projectâdriven sectors will be advantageous
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to command credibility at the executive level
- Handsâon approach with strong technical and commercial acumen
- Proven experience managing senior finance teams
- Strong systems capability - Xero experience essential
- Ability to adapt quickly, provide stability, and operate effectively in a changing environment
