SUMMARY:
Group Chief Enterprise Architect Position Available

POSITION INFO:

Position Outputs:

  • Develop the Group IT Strategy for the organisation;
  • Develop the Business Architecture Strategy and Enterprise Architecture Framework for the organisation to create and ensure alignment of ICT to the business;
  • Leading the architectural vision for services and systems across the organisation, ensuring that architecture conforms to and supports the organisation’s business strategy and Business Architecture;
  • Formally setup and lead the Group-wide Strategy and Enterprise Architecture (EA) organisation and processes to drive the rollout of the Strategy and EA capability across the Group;
  • Strategic Portfolio Alignment to the organisation’s strategy including Business needs and Business Case development;
  • Develop and implement Architecture Focus Domains which includes Business, Applications, Technology, Information and Data and Security;
  • Define the Governance and Policies for the functioning of the EA capability of the organisation including setting-up and chairing the Enterprise Architecture Review Council;
  • Leads the creation or evolution of the organisation-wide Enterprise Architecture function or program, including the coordination of an appropriately balanced pursuit of enterprise business, information, technical and solution architecture viewpoints;
  • Ensure alignment of Enterprise Architecture to business processes within the organisation;
  • Develop an EA Model and roadmap for the organisation;
  • Understands advocates and supports the organisation’s business and IT strategy;
  • Leads the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to derive enterprise business, information, technical and solution architecture requirements; analysing industry, technology and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the organisation;
  • Analyses the current organisation business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement;
  • Leads and facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide solution decision making for the organisation;
  • Ensure that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities are associated with EA compliance;
  • Leads the development plan for the EA, based on the organisation’s business requirements and IT strategies; overseeing EA implementation, on-going EA refinement activities, and the documentation of all EA design and analysis work;
  • Consults with the programme / project teams to fit solutions to architecture across all viewpoints;
  • Promotes the EA process, outcomes and results to the organisation, including the enterprise’s IT and business leaders; this includes assessing (through appropriate metrics) and communicating the achievement and impact of the EA, as well as leading the development and execution of an EA plan;

 

Position Challenges:

  • Define organisation-wide IT Strategy and Enterprise Architecture and designs across multiple complex operating divisions and functional areas;
  • Create alignment between Business and ICT and drive the Strategic Portfolio Management and Business need and Business Case for strategic initiatives;
  • Leading highly complex organisation-wide Enterprise Architecture programmes that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments;
  • The incumbent must lead the creation and / or evolution of the Enterprise Architecture function / programme including coordination of an appropriately balanced pursuit of enterprise business, information, technical and solution architects;
  • He / she must promote Enterprise Architecture, its process, outcome, and ongoing results to the organisation including ICT and business leaders; and ensure reliable and sustainable Information, Solutions, Technology and Business Architecture to assist the organisation to realise its strategy;

 

Decision Making:

  • The Group Chief Enterprise Architect position is for a single person within the Group CIO office. A major portion of the execution and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture will be done by the core business units ICT departments and 3rd party vendors;
  • The position is focused on direction and leadership;
  • The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the execution of the IT Strategy, architectural vision for ICT, ensuring that IT Strategy and architecture conforms to the organisation’s blueprints. This includes leading the IT Strategy, architecture and design implementation effort for the organisation and providing functional, technical and architectural direction to the organisation;
  • Develop road maps, while keeping up-to-date with emerging industry trends, and recommends business directions based on these trends;
  • Translate complex business problems into sound functional and technical solutions and provide process leadership. Responsible for conducting the overall process design and management of the business architecture;
  • Business Need and Business Case development for Strategic Initiatives;

 


 

Position Inputs:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Unless the incumbent can demonstrate that he / she has necessary competencies through experience, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Analysis, or a business related study is required;
  • Minimum 15 years’ of experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, solution architecture, network management, application development, information analysis, or operations management) in a heterogeneous environment – or 10 years’ of experience in solution architecture, business analysis or business strategic planning;
  • Demonstrated track record of leading high-performance teams toward the successful attainment of challenging goals;

  • Additional training in organisation change management highly desirable;

 

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture;
  • Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes;
  • Knowledge of the organisation’s business models is a key attribute;
  • Understanding the vision, goals and critical success factors, and other performance measures of the organisation in order to ensure that information is made available to support these;
  • Familiarity with information management practices;
  • Knowledge of and experience with management (theory and practice);
