Location: Pietermaritzburg, KZN

Requirements:

Matric
Degree in Electrical Engineering
GCC (Edible oil industry)
7-10 years of experience in a similar role

Responsibilities:

To provide Electrical Engineering expertise, guidance, direction and support towards the maintenance & engineering of the company's assets to ensure improved and sustained safety, reliability, availability, maintainability & performance.
To effectively support and provide expertise to the electrical maintenance engineering teams to achieve the required goals and objectives.
Appointment as a GMR 2.1 Appointee.
Act as the Supervisor of Machinery.
Define policy and guidelines in accordance with General Machinery Regulations.
Define training standards for operators and supervisors of machinery.
Coordinate training of relevant staff members.
Appoint GMR 2.7 (Assistant Supervisors) to assist the competent person (GMR 2.1 Appointee).
Assist the GMR 2.7 (Assistant Supervisors) in compiling plant-specific safety regulations and ensure that all legal requirements are adhered to for all machinery on the premises.
Ensure Plant Safety and GMR legal compliance at all times.
Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) & Regulatory compliance requirements.
Ensure that accurate records are kept with regard to Plant and Machinery.
Carry out proactive safety inspections and active monitoring.
Understand and adhere to environmental, legal and statutory requirements.
Contribute to capital projects from conceptual through to the commissioned stage.
Carry out root cause analyses on repeat defective equipment.
Detailed and comprehensive problem-solving for electrical engineering-related issues.
Recommend and implement improvements to the maintenance and engineering of the assets
Execute & maintain effective planned and preventative maintenance for the plant and machinery.
Engage with Key stakeholders to ensure OHS Act, Performance Standards, etc. and other relevant legislation/procedures are applied and enforced.
Ensure Adequate Spares Stock.
Maintain world-class levels of housekeeping in conjunction with the Housekeeping Team.
Provide technical expertise and direction to the electrical engineering team and team leaders and drive technical capability and performance building.
Give input for the maintenance strategy on the Company Assets to provide continuous improvement in uptime and reliability.
Stand in periodically for other Engineering/Operations roles when required.
Drive sustainable initiatives - cost and energy savings, water savings, electricity savings, coal savings as well as minimise waste production and pollution.
The following duties/functions are also part of your scope of duties: All applicable sections and regulations to related activities, Sections relating to employer duties; (8, 9), Sections relating to training and risk control; (8, 10), Sections relating to reporting of incidents; (24), Sections relating to employee duties and rights; (13, 14, 15, 23, 26), Section relating to penalties and offences; (38), Regulations relating to construction; (Construction Regulations), General Safety Regulations, General Administrative Regulations, Applicable Machinery Regulations.
