Group Management Accountant CA(SA)

SUMMARY:
Seeking a Group Management Accountant that Accountant will be responsible for the financial accounting function for insurance organizations and their related subsidiaries. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the accounting function and functions supporting this process for the insurance organization meet company requirements.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications and Experience required:

NQF Level 7: Finance Degree

5 – 8 years financial accounting experience within the Insurance Industry, 3 years of which should be management experience

Key Areas of Responsibility

IFRS Compliance

Ensure that all financial information is reported in accordance with IFRS/Insurance Act and General Accepted Accounted Practices

Ensure that all Income, Expenses, Assets and Liabilities are reported in terms of IFRS

Ensure management accounts are prepared in accordance with IFRS and Group requirements

Management Accounts and Tax Reporting

Responsible for the accounting function for the Group and subsidiaries

Prepare financial accounts for EXCO so as to support the financial decision-making process

Make necessary improvements on all Reporting ensuring EXCO/Board Sub-Committees are fully informed

Assist in the review of budgets

Assist with the review of invoices

Ensure that all tax submissions are submitted in accordance with Tax Act and within relevant timelines

Provide tax support to group initiatives

Process Automation and Data Integrity

Continuously develop and streamline process automation within the finance operational areas

Review all systems procedures and controls and make necessary improvements where appropriate

Ensure data integrity of information within financial reporting systems

Governance and Controls

Establish and continuously maintain accounting policies and procedures

Ensure all internal controls for Financial systems and reporting is adequate

Formulate and maintain group accounting and financial practices and ensure compliance of all subsidiaries in this regard

Responsible for the controls and documentation relating to income and expenditure

Ensure continuous governance and controls in relation to financial information

Ensure financial reporting system control and integration with existing and developmental platforms

Staff Management and Development

Oversee the day to day operations of the team, set goals and objectives and ensure that they are being met.

Provide adequate leadership, training and development to the team with succession and developmental initiatives

Operational Finance Business Partnering

Strategically partner with the debtors and collection areas

Assist Claims payment function and review processes

Support the payroll function and review processes

Integrate reserving information with financial processes and develop business insights

Adequately oversee fixed assets controls process frameworks within the finance function

Assist with cash functions to support business

Provide assistance to the CFO on any related matters as an when required
