The DTHF is launching an innovative, multi-component Health Park for young people in Masiphumelele, Ocean View and surrounding areas and we are looking for a dynamic, organised, inspired Health Park Co-ordinator to bring this project to life.
The role will require planning, co-ordinating and implementing activities in line with the vision and goals of the Health Park to provide a safe, accessible, welcoming space where young people can learn about and engage in physical activity, healthier eating, access comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and mental health support. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of the day to day activities of the Health Park, including generating ideas for programmes, liaising with service providers and collaborators and co-ordinating the Health Park sports and activity schedule.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) with Post Matric qualification in Social Science, Administration, Marketing, Event planning or related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a coordination or similar position; preferably in a health-related environment
- Experience working with adolescents, preferably within the local community
- Knowledge of health and social challenges facing young people in South Africa
- Experience working with sports teams / playing sport
- Computer Literate (MS Office and Social Media)
- Local resident of Masiphumelele, Ocean view or nearby areas
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; language proficiency in English and at least one of the following: Afrikaans and Xhosa
- Excellent planning and organising skills
- Administrative skills
- Good time management skills
- Attentive to detail
- Be proactive and show initiative
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
Advantageous:
- Knowledge in the use of social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram etc.)
- Experience in marketing or promotional work
- Valid Driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordination and day to day management of Health Park activities and schedule, to ensure an optimally functioning and maintained facility, and a safe and welcoming space that meets the needs of all young people
- Engagement with collaborators, service providers and possible funders regarding Health Park programmes
- Marketing and promotion of Health Park through planning and publicizing services and events and local community engagement
