HME Reliability Engineer

SUMMARY:
Copper mining operations in Eritrea is looking for a skilled snr. Reliability Engineer in the HME division. Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect equipment reliability.

POSITION INFO:

Contract period initially 2 years, with extension option.

This role is divided into three (3) areas: Loss Elimination, Risk Management, and Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM).

Loss Elimination

• This function involves the identification and managing of factors affecting equipment reliability as well as mitigating abnormally high maintenance cost assets. These losses are prioritized to focus efforts on the largest/most critical opportunities. The Reliability Engineer (in full partnership with the operations Departments) develops various strategies to eliminate or reduce the losses through root cause analysis and innovation. This area also critically looks at component management, which involves such activities as, component rebuild, salvaging of parts, and the control of parts and materials used.

Risk Management

• Another role of the Reliability Engineer is to manage risk to the achievement of the Department’s strategic objectives in the areas of asset capability, quality and waste. Some tools used by a Reliability Engineer to identify and reduce risk include.

Life Cycle Asset Management: 

takes part in equipment purchase decisions, component management through condition assessment, component repair, and medication of existing assets.

Ability to develop new equipment specs'' along with commissioning and formulating criteria for evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers

• Supervising the rebuilding/refurbishment of failed and/or overdue components to Original Equipment Manufacturer’s standards.
• Professionally and systematically defines designs, develops, monitors and refines asset maintenance Plans that include value-added preventive maintenance tasks as well as effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.

Ensuring that condition monitoring of equipment parts and systems is conducted as per the prescribed criteria and test results reported accurately and within the shortest period; preferably, within 24 hours from cutting of the sample

Education:  B.Sc Elec or Mechanical Engineer + min 5 years HME experience at senior level

Rotation:  Previously 6/3 - now due to covid and flight availability 10/5

Unique requirements:  Candidates must be physically fit, and able to work with oils, chemicals, severe heat/wind and dust conditions, also able to work at heights.
