Job Duties:
- Leading and managing the legal team within the engineering industry.
- Providing expert legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing legal strategies to support business objectives.
- Overseeing legal compliance and risk management activities.
- Negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts.
- Handling dispute resolution and litigation matters.
- Managing external legal counsel and other legal service providers.
- Keeping abreast of legislative changes and industry developments.
Required Qualifications:
- Qualified solicitor with current practising certificate.
- Proven experience in a legal leadership role, preferably within the engineering sector.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial law, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Education:
LLB (Bachelor of Laws) degree or equivalent. Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant legal field are desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in legal practise, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the legal landscape in the engineering industry.
- Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
- Ability to provide strategic legal advice to senior management.
- Experience in managing complex legal matters and projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Membership of relevant professional bodies or associations.
- Experience in international legal matters or cross-border transactions.
- Familiarity with intellectual property law and technology-related legal issues.
Working Conditions:
This role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel required for meetings and other business activities. The Head of Legal will work closely with various departments and external stakeholders to ensure legal compliance and support business objectives.
