JOB SUMMARY:
A successful wholesale company with 7 branches in South Africa is seeking a HR Manager for their head office based in Epping Cape Town. You will be responsible to provide clear goals, expectations, and feedback so that each member of the team can significantly multiply their contribution to the company and to their own success.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Statutory Returns – submissions on annual basis
  • Payroll Management – payments done accurately by 25th of month & weekly by each Thursday of week
  • Recruitment and Retention – As per set Termination Ratio, Recruitment cost per budget / On boarding program management (Performance review)
  • Performance Management – Financial KPI’s
  • Skills Development – Plan vs spending ratio – ROI on performance /as per set job profile KPI’s
  • Industrial Relations – CCMA cases reduce to <3
  • HR Budget – In accordance to set budget
  • Employer net promoter score (ePNS) – Measuring staff engagements
  • Reporting – Absenteeism ratio, termination cost, turnover rate
Skills, Traits and Competencies:
Specific skills, traits and competencies necessary to be successful in this role.
  • Minimum 5 years generalist HR experience including but not limited to experience in recruitment and selection, performance management, industrial relations, chairing disciplinary enquiries, policy drafting, employee wellbeing, induction programmes, staff development, performance appraisals, training, conflict resolution, organizational change and legislative reporting
  • Degree in HR Management – minimum qualification
  • Thorough understanding of South African labour legislation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
  • Willing and able to travel regularly to branches
  • Has superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Has leadership skills and is able to positively influence others

Purpose of this role:
  • The HR Manager will manage, directs and be responsible for the overall human resources (HR) function for company with all branches.
  • Align the HR strategy with the business strategy to ensure growth, innovation and sustainability.
  • To educate, train, monitor, problem-solve, and ensure company HR policy will be follow across all employees, managers, and executives.
  • Developing, implement and monitor the training and development plan to assist managers with career developments, cross functional training across all departments and branches
  • Responsibilities will include directing, overseeing the hiring, training, and dismissal processes, administering, and monitoring benefit programs.
  • Responsible for Benefit & Salary Administration for the company
  • Creating a high-performance culture within Company

PAYROLL MANAGEMENT:
  • Monthly / Weekly Payroll
  • Reporting (EMP 201, Payroll listings)
  • Bi-annual submissions (EMP 501 Returns)
  • Employee benefits management (Provident fund / Death & Disability)
RECRUITMENT AND TALENT RETENTION:
  • Responsible for pipeline management and accurate people forecasting and resourcing in line with the strategic workforce planning model and processes.
  • Manage benchmarking of all positions from entry level up to management level
  • Manage recruitment processes and monitor compliance to these to ensure the acquisition of
appropriate talent.
  • Responsible for the optimal use of internal and direct recruitment methods according to Company
  • Recruitment Policy.
  • Responsible for internal advertising of any vacant positions as per Company Recruitment Policy
  • Screening & Selecting of applicants
  • Manage interviewing process
  • Job Profiling
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT:
  • Ensure the disciplined execution of the Performance Management process and the cascading of key performance indicators to align these to business strategy.
  • Compile job descriptions across all departments and branches
  • Provide ongoing training and education to managers on managing absenteeism, disciplinary and grievances issues.
SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT:
  • Develop, Implement and monitor training and development plan
  • Driving cross functional training across all departments and branches
  • Managing the training and development process as the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF)
  • Ensure reporting is done with relevant SETA
  • Liaising with outsourced vendors
INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS:
  • Develop and Update of all Policies in accordance with legislation
  • Ensure training on all Polices is done timeously
  • Supporting / advising line managers with all Labour Law regulations
  • Representation at the CCMA regarding all disputes
  • Strong management in conflict resolution
HR AUDIT / REPORTING:
  • Conduct HR Audit on bi-annual / annual basis to ensure legal compliance
  • Manage HR budget as per allocated / set budget
  • Data-analysis and record keeping for all employees etc. Termination Analysis, New hire costs, absenteeism analysis, training cost analysis
  • Support Health and Safety coordinator
  • Staff Engagements
  • Conduct staff surveys
  • ePNS ratio analysis
  • Implementing on board programs / induction for new hires
