POSITION INFO:

Head: Actuarial Reporting Development

Cape Town

Assist the Chief Actuary with valuations.

Responsible for premium rates and all other statutory valuation work.  Responsible for the activities of a department or a specific function or area e.g. supervision of actuarial staff, actuarial students and clerical staff. 

Check fund calculations and doing complex presentations to clients. 

Clarify client requirements and translate actuarial concepts into client-friendly terminology, meeting all reporting requirements. 

May also be involved in product development.

Work closely with the Business Intelligence (BI) team and responsible for developing and implementing tools to automate and streamline critical reporting processes utilising the latest BI technology and data engineering. 

The team as a whole is responsible for the following tasks:

• Pursuit of the Actuarial reporting target operating model primarily through process engineering and BI integration into the Actuarial valuations team
• Production support on the full suite of ACTVAL assets (Actuarial results store, APT cubes, VNB per policy database, Asset stress tool, Fund accounting and the Overlay model) to its stakeholders (SRA, SC, SRM and SPA-NAM)
• Engagement and support between actuarial reporting,
• Group Technology, business and management
• User onboarding and access control
• Reference data governance 
• SAP and BI training for end-users
• XLcubed data consumption software management (and licencing)
• Process improvements:
• Mechanise Analysis of Surplus
• Help actuarial reporting to use new technologies like ARS for IBNR
• IFRS 17 BI developments

Qualifications:

• An Actuarial or Data Science Degree will be considered

Experience & Knowledge:

• Experience in an actuarial reporting environment including IFRS, EV, VNB and SAM bases 
• Good knowledge of life products will be an advantage m30.4s
