Head: Finance Insurance

SUMMARY:
To provide strategic financial accounting and leadership to the company Insurance Company/ company Life Insurance Company and manage the financial health and governance of the organisation.

POSITION INFO:

JOB DESCRIPTION

Setting and driving of the company strategy, Corporate Plan, Shareholder Compact, Policy and Objectives and Goals with a focus on financial aspects and regulatory ratios

• Oversee the development and implementation of the company financial strategy to ensure that the company reaches its financial targets.
• Provides input into company, vision, direction and strategy in terms of commercial and regulatory environment.

Departmental Structure, Design and Service Delivery Model

• Designs the company operational structures in alignment to the company Strategy and supports the MD in the design of other functions to support the strategic objectives

Management of Financial Enterprise-Wide Risk and Financial Governance requirements

• Clearance of audit findings for company – audit findings cleared on time.
• Provide to the board of director’s assurance that the proper systems and actions are in place to identify and manage business risks and that such risks are within the guidelines established by the board of directors

Financial and Commercial Management

• Provide support to the company Group Finance department in the consolidation of reports.
• Provide monthly financial reports for consolidation to enable consolidation for Group reporting.
• Provide interim and annual final financial statements to enable consolidation for Group reporting.

Treasury and Investment Portfolio Management

• Ensure the company has a sustainable balance sheet structure focusing on funding, capital management, asset quality
• Creates an optimal funding strategy for the company
• Manage Liquidity 6. Engage, Grow and maintain significant stakeholder relationships and credibility and reputation

Executive and Board Functions

• Attend all Board and Board Committee meetings
• Provide input at meetings and lead all discussions relating to company
• Provide/source ad hoc risk advice to meet organisational requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Minimum Education and Experience

• Honours BCom Accounting and CTA
• CA (SA)
• SAICA registration
• 7 – 10 years Senior Financial Management experience
• 3 – 5 years Senior Management Experience
• 5 – 7 years Experienced in Insurance Accounting, Regulations and Regulatory Reporting
