SUMMARY:
responsible for leading implementation and monitoring of the strategy at portfolio level through inspirational and ethical leadership consistent with the vision of the Firm and the organization Constitutional mandate.

POSITION INFO:

Job Purpose

Head of Audit will be responsible for leading implementation and monitoring of the strategy at portfolio level through inspirational and ethical leadership consistent with the vision of the Firm and the organisation  Constitutional mandate. Participate in the annual strategic plan and the annual budget processes as well as reporting on the annual performance of the organisation.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • CA (SA) or ACCA.
  • Minimum of 10+ years in an executive leadership role in the auditing environment
  • A professional background demonstrating superior leadership ability within the audit / accounting environment.
  • Incumbent is required to keep their knowledge up-to-date about auditing practices, standards and significant issues, and establish broad networks of peer contacts internally, locally, and through national and provincial professional associations.
  • Demonstrate a professional background with superior leadership ability and ethics.
  • A strong track record in client and project management and a capacity to lead and manage audit operations are key.
  • A sound understanding of the nature and operations of the public sector, and strong communications skills are vital.
  • Seasoned private or public sector management experience in an audit environment; some private sector consulting experience would be an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, manage and inspire others;
  • Proven ability and tolerance to problem solve and lead in stressful crisis and emergency situations and environments;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences;
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret complex data and arrive at sound business decisions;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information;
  • Customer focus, action and results oriented, ethics and values, integrity and trust, teamwork, leadership, negotiation and communication.
  • Ability to influence and persuade at all levels within an organization, including outside of direct reporting lines.
  • Strong business focus and acumen.
  • Vision and ability to integrate and leverage the various parts of the organization; building capability for the future, rationalizing and consolidating as necessary.
  • A strong customer focus and understanding of how to deliver and communicate new value proposition.
  • Ability to operate strategically while simultaneously leading, coaching and executing at an operational and strategic levels; and
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all level.
