SUMMARY:
Head of Brand Buying (Sports Equipment)

POSITION INFO:

Requires formulating and managing the implementation of the overall brand strategy which begins with working in collaboration with the internal and international team to develop a strategic sales plan for the business that clearly identifies the long-term brand vision for sustainable growth and retail development while maintaining and protecting the integrity of the brand and optimizing profits in an ever-changing South African market. To achieve the objectives, continually analyse the market, competitors and customer behaviour to develop a product strategy that is pre-emptive as well as relevant for the market whist staying true to brand identity and achieving sales plans.

Strategy Implementation: communicate brand strategy and make sure that it is understood by the Marketing team, Operations team, Planning team and most importantly Store teams whilst fostering a culture of partnership and ownership of the brand principles.
Product selection and range building for sports equipment whilst ensuring margin and pricing are in line with budgets.
Collaborate with Marketing and Operations management to identify potential product growth opportunities in order to transition new product strategies.
Plan and execute promotional activity during key peak trading times as well as react to business need to liquidate aged inventory.
Analyse retail space and visual merchandise concepts to ensure maximum sales and support Marketing and Operations team.
Direct management of a Junior buyer and Assistant buyer as well as an Online Co-ordinator. Indirect management of Marketing Manager and Operations Manager.
Reporting to Executive management and shareholders on business KPI’s namely profitability, competitor activity, operational issues as well opportunities.
Lead monthly trend meetings reporting on sales, GP, product sell through as well as store performance. P&L analysis on a monthly basis with recommendations to Department Head.
Constantly drive the business forward by planning ahead, reacting quickly to market requirements and continuously ask ‘what can we do better?’
