SUMMARY:
The Head of Advisory Services is required to provide strategic leadership, business planning and execution including the overall financial and operational performance of the business unit.

POSITION INFO:

Key performance areas:
• Develop strategic plans in line with Group Strategy and ensuring successful execution of business plans.

• Drive business development initiatives to meet the business growth targets and identify high performance brokers for the business.

• Manage daily operations including client servicing, marketing, finance, human resources, performance, etc. to ensure achievement of annual targets.

• Build and maintain a productive, high-performance team. Coordinate with Human Resources to drive high-performance, Talent Management and Retention in the team. Manage all people related matters within the teams and ensure that correct employees are recruited, developed and retained in order to meet the business needs.

• Successfully implementing company policies and procedures, including industry regulations and other compliance matters.

• Provides mentoring and guidance to employees, and ensures visibility and approachability to all Employees.

• Motivates staff to meet or surpass organisational and sales goals.

• Achieving the budget and business targets quarterly and annually.

• Measures effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and finds ways to improve processes.

• Develops and implements growth strategies across business and product lines.

• Presents innovative ideas and cash flow strategies to the board of directors and other company officers.

• Accountable for risk mitigation, compliance and all industry related requirements to ensure continuous business operations.

• Identify appropriate systems to enhancement delivery of results and identifying process or system enhancements to create efficiencies.

• Manage new business and servicing team and ensure that headcount calculations, budget and forecasts are managed.

• Ensure that the team manages all administration and escalations in line with agreed SLAs.

• Build a robust and successful BEE owned and controlled business in this sector.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Postgraduate Degree in a business-related field or equivalent; a minimum relevant qualification at NQF level 8 or post graduate diploma (Essential).

• FAIS – Minimum credits as required (Personal Lines and Commercial) (Essential)

• RE 5 (Representative) (Essential)

• Short term insurance qualification (IISA designation) (Advantageous)

• 10+ year’s experience, Commercial Broker Servicing experience within a Financial Services Provider, including the Commercial Short Term Insurance industry (essential). Extensive customer service and broker servicing experience (Essential).

• Minimum 5 years management experience at an Executive Level.

• Preferably from a highly self-driven, entrepreneurial environment where one delivers results continuously.

• Must have the ability to balance long term vision and plan whilst achieving short to medium term objectives.

• Must have in-depth financial services industry knowledge including, products and services, legislation and compliance matters.

• Strong and advanced Business Acumen. Customer and Broker Servicing Management (Advanced). Formulating Strategies and concepts – Intermediate.

• Resilience, and ability to motivate the workforce.

• Effective management and delegation skills.

• Advanced communication and negotiation skills.

• Human resources management skills. Staff remuneration structure management (Advanced)

• Marketing, PR and presentation skills.

• Understanding of a multi-faceted business operation.

• Lateral thinker with strong strategic capability.

• Strong financial acumen. Budget management (Advanced).

• Planning and forecasting skills. Contingency planning / business continuity (Advanced)

• Complex problem solving and conflict handling skills.

• Strong governance, risk management and compliance.

• High emotional intelligence and ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
