POSITION INFO:

The job:

You are responsible for the overall management, performance and results of the freight desk which includes the use of and maintenance of the GTS Software solution managing all imports and exports across the entire business of the Client exceeding 8000 containers per annum.

What will you do:

Over a period of two years, with the end goal of AEO accreditation in mind, complete the establishment and implementation of the GTS solution and freight desk to:

1. Ensure that all inbound and outbound flows are fully compliant and run through GTS supporting the tax team to remain compliant with SARS.

2. Ensure all divisions are fully utilizing GTS and that reporting is in place and monitored monthly to ensure compliance and management decision making

3. Leverage the size of TCB freight movements to secure the best rates and service from shipping lines and freight forwarders in these volatile times.

4. Minimise ancillary costs through proper visibility and planning of shipments through the team supporting you, procurement and GTS.

5. Breakdown the silo thinking and operations around import and exports and create a harmonised and organised process across the business

6. Create and ensure visibility around stock movements to limit stock outs and enable decision making within the business

7. Assist in managing the process of call offs and product flows from inbound cross docks of freight forwarders

7. Grow and develop the team (CS&L & Procurement) and their understanding of the imports/export market and processes to deepen the knowledge within the group

8. Stay abreast of changes in import/export processes and compliance and support the tax team in managing rebate stores, duties and claims

9. Work towards establishing TCB as an AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) with SARS

10. Manage relationships with service providers and create the flexibility to switch when markets or circumstances dictate

11. Regular tenders for sea freight and clearing/forwarding agents ensuring pricing compliance at all times

12. Assist in creating a TCB Deferment Account and Clearing (Imports and Exports)

13. Stay abreast with new technologies and optimization opportunities

14. Build and manage a team, either on an outsourced or insourced or combined model

Core knowledge – Imports and Exports, international shipping markets, clearing and forwarding, planning, logistics, FMCG

Key foundational competencies
Academic – Microsoft Office, ERP, Logistics Degree, International Trade Degree or similar

Personal Effectiveness – Effective communication, Interpersonal skills, accountability and responsibility, problem solving
Experience
Functional – minimum 10+ years experience in supply chain with core experience in imports/exports and international logistics
