Head of School / Principal (Preparatory School)

SUMMARY:
An established private school seeks a dynamic and visionary Principal / Head of School to lead its continued growth and development. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished educational leader with experience in a Preparatory school, demonstrating a strong track record of academic excellence, operational leadership, and community engagement.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to all academic and support staff, ensuring excellence across the school.
• Implement, monitor, and continuously evaluate all academic and administrative policies and procedures.
• Oversee the effective timetabling of classes, ensuring optimal use of facilities and resources.
• Drive staff performance through clear objectives, performance reviews, professional development, and succession planning.
• Partner with HR to ensure fair employment practices, compliance with labour legislation, and alignment with Employment Equity targets.
• Identify and nurture critical skills for long-term sustainability and leadership continuity.
• Lead marketing and admissions initiatives to achieve enrolment targets and strengthen the school’s reputation.
• Engage with prospective families through interviews, open days, and school events to promote the school’s values and offerings.
• Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, cost management, and debt collection, in collaboration with the finance team and governing executives.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, educational, and safety requirements, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain integrity and compliance in all examination and registration processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A recognised Degree and/or a 4-year professional Teaching Qualification (minimum requirement).
• SACE registration (mandatory).
• At least 5 years’ teaching experience
• A minimum of 3 years in a Principal / Head of School position
• Demonstrated experience in school start-up, turnaround, or transformation projects.
