Health, Safety & Risk Officer
POSITION INFO:
Our client is looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Risk Officer to implement and maintain health, safety and risk systems, ensure legal compliance and promote a safe working environment within a manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining health and safety standards, driving compliance with legislation and company policies, coordinating training and inductions, conducting audits, and supporting continuous improvement across the business. Key Responsibilities Implement and maintain Health, Safety and Risk policies, procedures and work instructions. Ensure compliance with all legal and company Health, Safety and Risk requirements. Maintain knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and communicate legislative changes to management and staff. Conduct monthly Health and Safety meetings and maintain accurate records and minutes. Submit Health and Safety meeting records to relevant stakeholders and provide feedback. Communicate Health, Safety and Risk responsibilities and requirements to employees. Coordinate the appointment of First Aiders, Fire Fighters and Health and Safety Representatives. Coordinate Health, Safety and Risk training together with HR and the Training Department. Ensure employees receive the necessary training relevant to their roles. Promote the safety of personnel, products and work processes. Conduct monthly plant checks to maintain health and safety standards. Coordinate contractor and new employee safety inductions. Manage injuries on duty and ensure employees receive the appropriate medical attention. Monitor the correct use of PPE and promote safe working practices. Conduct housekeeping inspections and audits throughout the facility. Work closely with Production and Maintenance to identify and improve plant safety, efficiencies and risk controls. Maintain Quality, Safety, Risk, Environmental, Production and Logistical systems. Update and maintain the quality data system. Manage observations and NCR reports and implement corrective and preventative actions where required. Minimum Requirements Matric (Grade 12 Certificate). Relevant Health and Safety qualification. Valid Code 08\/EB driver''s licence. Minimum of 3 years'' experience in a similar position. Experience within a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of Health, Safety and Risk legislation and compliance. Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook.
