Hotel Reception Shift Leader

SUMMARY:
A leading hospitality property is seeking an experienced and guest-focused Reception Shift Leader to join their Front Office team.
This opportunity is ideal for a confident hospitality professional who thrives in a busy, high-volume hotel environment, leads by example, and delivers polished, professional guest service while supporting and guiding the reception team throughout every shift.
The successful candidate will bring strong operational front office knowledge, hands-on Opera PMS experience, and the ability to remain calm, organised, and solutions-driven within a fast-paced luxury hotel environment.

Please Note:
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience within large, branded 4 or 5-star hotels and strong Opera PMS exposure.

Minimum Requirements
- Matric or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Reception Shift Leader or Senior Receptionist within a large, branded hotel
- Strong hands-on Opera PMS experience (essential)
- Previous experience within a 4 or 5-star hotel environment
- Strong understanding of front office procedures, guest service, and shift operations
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and Opera PMS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Well-presented, professional, and guest-focused
- Valid South African ID
- Fully updated CV required for application

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Front Office team during assigned shifts
- Deliver warm, professional, and attentive guest service at all times
- Ensure smooth and efficient guest check-ins and check-outs
- Handle guest requests, concerns, and complaints professionally and efficiently
- Accurately manage reservations, billing, and guest profiles on Opera PMS
- Conduct detailed shift handovers and ensure operational continuity
- Support reception staff with guidance, training, and daily operational support
- Coordinate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Porters, and Management
- Ensure hotel standards, SOPs, and service procedures are consistently maintained
- Assist in creating a positive, motivated, and service-driven front office environment
