SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Global VP Human Resources, with a dotted line responsibility to the MD South Africa.

POSITION INFO:

The prospective incumbent will be residing or willing to relocate to KwaZulu Natal or the Western Cape. Due to our client’s Equity Plan, females will be given preference for this position.

The successful candidate will align and execute Global HR strategy at a Business Unit Level and oversee day-to-day responsibilities of the Human Capital portfolio. Required to work across, and within the entities in the company stable, as well as with different functional departments. Must be a dynamic individual and possess excellent oral and written communication skills, possess the gravitas and credibility to successfully represent the company and be able to thrive and adapt within the dynamics of a fast-moving multinational environment. Essential that you have operated at a strategic and EXCO level. Extensive local and occasional international travel involved.

Provide supportive leadership, direction and guidance for the strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations of Human Capital.  Must find and retain great talent for all positions in the organization to meet the goals of the company. Provide support in the development and implementation of strategic goals in recruitment, talent acquisition, compensation, policy development, employee relations, performance management and development of all employees.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in HR Management or equivalent qualification, compulsory
  • Relevant postgraduate degree NQF 9. Ideally a Masters
  • 8 – 10 years’ corporate working experience, preferably in an operations environment in which; at least
  • 3 - 5 of which must have been at senior level management or executive level
  • Strong strategic capability helping shape the business over the next 5-10 years and give examples of areas where they have successfully transformed
  • Mining or related sector experience essential
  • Must have a working knowledge of the following from a compliance and regulatory perspective
    • Department of Minerals and Energy – social and labour plans
    • Department of Labour – EE targets
    • Department of Higher Education - SETA
    • Mining Charters
  • Must demonstrate proven leadership ability and have led sizeable teams of people before
  • Must have substantial experience in a unionized environment
  • An energetic and dynamic professional, astute to Human Resources best practices
  • Must be an individual of unquestionable ethics, integrity, transparency and honesty
  • Fluent in both English and other significant indigenous languages.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • People orientation: a person who “goes the extra mile” to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and persuade effectively
  • Performance-focused and stimulated by change and challenge
