Hydraulic Design Engineer

One of our clients are seeking a Hydraulic Design Engineer for their Branch in the East Rand.

Job Summary

• The primary purpose of the hydraulic design engineer role is to configure and design hydraulic hose routing for the Hard rock product line using CAD software.
• This involves creating intricate 3D drawings and schematics, developing detailed drawings from various sources, and documenting design updates according to engineering change procedures.
• The role also includes providing continuous support to the Production team during assembly.
• Additionally, the Hydraulics Designer aspect of the role involves selecting, designing and validating full hydraulic systems for underground heavy mobile equipment.
• This includes creating hydraulic schematics, developing components selections with suppliers, and supporting new product development through design validations plans, prototype troubleshooting and testing.
• The position also requires providing support to the factory, aftermarket, and sales teams by troubleshooting hydraulic issues at customer sites to ensure optimal product performance.

• Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (B-Eng or B-Tech)
• 3+ years with the design of mobile equipment
• Minimum 5 years’ experience designing, sizing and calculating for mobile equipment hydraulic systems, including commissioning, validation and troubleshooting.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with vendors and selecting hydraulics components and systems for mobile equipment.
• Travel up to 10% of the time to understand customer equipment requirements, resolve technical problems with equipment.
• Fully competent with 2D/3D CAD design, preferably Autodesk.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes (Welding & machining)
• Understanding of Bill of Material and MRP Systems.
• Experience with project management methodologies.
• High-level of initiative with ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.
• Knowledgeable in fluid mechanics and electrics.
• Solid knowledge of fluid connectors standard and good practice for fluid conveyance, including tubing and hoses.
• Experience with data logging and instrumentation for hydraulic testing.
• Solid understanding of architecture is used on mobile hydraulic systems.
• Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Flameproof experience.
