We’re looking for a dynamic, experienced Investment Associate to join our Client’s growing Investment team focused on private debt investments in the infrastructure and development sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a purpose-driven investment firm delivering real impact across the region. From clean energy to transport to social infrastructure, the projects we support require sharp minds, deep insight, and strong execution. That's where you come in.
You’ll play a key role in origination, execution, portfolio management, and capital raising - contributing directly to projects that drive economic growth and social progress.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Source and originate private debt opportunities in line with South Africa-focused infrastructure and development mandates
- Lead end-to-end deal execution - from due diligence and committee presentations to legal finalisation and drawdown
- Build and maintain relationships with industry players, investee companies, funders, and partners
- Collaborate on capital raising and deliver investor presentations alongside Principals and Business Development
- Monitor and manage portfolio performance and support continuous improvement in credit methodologies
- Mentor junior team members, contributing to a strong, skilled, and motivated investment team
Qualification, Skills, Knowledge and Experience required
- CA(SA) or CFA designation highly advantageous
- Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 5+ years’ investment experience, including:
- At least 4 years in Private Debt
- At least 2 years in Infrastructure Finance, Development Finance, or Impact Investing
- 4+ years of proven experience in deal evaluation and structuring, with advanced financial modelling and valuation skills
- Exceptional analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to convey complex ideas clearly
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, innovative, solutions orientated and deadline orientated environment
- Passion for infrastructure, sustainability, and driving meaningful outcomes through capital
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Willingness to travel domestically and regionally as needed
