JOB DESCRIPTION:

My client based in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg is looking for a Server and Storage Engineer to join their team.

The Storage and Server Engineer will ensure that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures using software, tools, and techniques to investigate and diagnose incidents and problems.

Duties:

Monitoring the performance of servers to ensure they run efficiently, and troubleshooting any issues that arise
Configuration of servers
Installing new software on servers as needed, updating existing applications with security patches, and removing software that is no longer being used
Monitoring server storage capacity to ensure adequate space is available for new data
Recommending upgrades to server hardware or software to meet increasing demands on system performance
Assigning unique identification numbers to each server to ensure that all information is traceable
Working with other IT staff to ensure that network security measures are in place to protect against unauthorized access to data or disruption of service
Configuring network settings such as IP addresses, DNS settings, and routing protocols
Providing technical support to users who experience problems using company computer systems
Take the ownership for handling and maintaining data storage's engineering process, including networks in an organization
Maintain and implement solutions for data storage and maintenance
Upgrade software, apply patches, and ensure physical security of data
Evaluate input and output for systems, as well as overall architecture, to recommend improvements
Design disaster recovery plans and enforce backup and archival procedures

Qualifications

IT Related Qualification
Relevant Certifications (Storage and Servers)
3 to 5 years experience in a Server and Storage Engineer role
