POSITION INFO:
Job Purpose:

The IT Technical Support Officer Intern will provide hands-on support in maintaining the company’s IT systems, assisting users with technical issues, and learning about IT infrastructure. This internship will give practical experience in IT support, troubleshooting, and network management while offering the opportunity to work with experienced IT professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support Assistance:

• Provide first-line support to internal users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Assist with troubleshooting technical problems, including computer malfunctions, software issues, and connectivity problems.
• Help set up and install new IT equipment, such as desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.

• Assist in monitoring internal IT systems for performance and security issues.
• Support routine system maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and backup operations.
• Help ensure that systems are running smoothly by assisting with proactive checks and maintenance.

• Provide basic user support and guidance on the use of software applications and hardware.
• Assist in the development of user guides or documentation for common IT procedures.
• Provide training to employees on common technical problems and solutions.

• Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi and LAN-related problems.
• Help with basic network configurations and supporting internal network infrastructure.

• Support the tracking and management of IT inventory, including computers, accessories, and software licenses.
• Help ensure that all hardware and software are properly documented and licensed.

• To assist in managing IT support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and updates.
• Document technical issues and resolutions in the helpdesk system for future reference.
• Help escalate unresolved issues to senior IT team members when necessary.
• Collaboration and Team Support:
• Work closely with the IT team to complete assigned tasks and support broader IT projects.
• Communicate effectively with users and IT team members and ensure smooth operation and quick resolution of issues.

• South African unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
• Must not have participated on the YES Programme before.
• Completed a Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Basic understanding of IT systems, software, and hardware.
• Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, and Linux).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
• Problem-solving mindset and a keen interest in IT support and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
