In-House Legal Counsel (Mining Experience Essential) (6 Month Contract)

SUMMARY:
Mining company with Head Offices in Bryanston seeks to employ an in-house Legal Counsel to be the main point of contact for all legal requirements and to handle Company Secretarial functions. This is a 6 month contract with a view to go permanent. (IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE CANDIDATES ONLY)

POSITION INFO:

Roles and Responsibilites

• Draft and settle all contracts and Service Level Agreements (“SLA”);
• Ensure all contracts are renewed before the expiry date after consultation with the relevant manager;
• Review SLA''s received from customers for services;
• Manage all litigation matters (including community disputes);
• Be the main point of contact for any legal matters that arise;
• Keep abreast of any legal developments in RSA;
• Perform company secretarial function (e.g. contracts and resolution registers, CIPC annual returns);
• Keep a schedule of all contracts within the Group companies;
• Maintain regulatory compliance with DMR, DWS, NEMA and environmental reporting;
• High-level auditing of Environmental and Mine Health & Safety;
• Submission of new applications of mineral rights, environmental rights and water rights to the relevant state departments;
• Maintain all mineral rights/applications and other related rights;
• Ensure no other mineral rights are granted over our farms; and
• Manage all labour disputes or labour law related matters.

Interpersonal/Leadership skills

• Strong time management skills with a high degree of accountability;
• Develop strong relationships with the DMRE, DWS, SAPS and the community;
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and drafting skills; and

Reporting

• Keep the CEO and FD updated on the status of matters as necessary.
