JOB SUMMARY:
Our client, part of a large listed manufacturing group, currently seeks an experienced individual to join their dynamic team and assist the Plant Manager to manage, monitor and implement Continuous Improvement initiatives to plant, equipment and processes in order to optimise utilisation of organisational resources and obtain excellence in the layout facilities and promote Lean Manufacturing.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Person:
  • National Diploma in Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to read CAD Drawings.
Key outputs of the job:
  • Implement Lean, Visual Management, Value stream mapping and roll throughput yield / rework reduction across operational areas and train Lean Modules (5S, Std Work, Quick Changeover, Kanban, Constraints Management, TPM) across the operations.
  • Drive specific action items to improve OEE/OPR.
  • Develop and implement headcount management as well as capacity planning tools.
  • Drive Live OEE and MRP reporting systems.
  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement efforts by directing and training relevant staff to meet required KPI’s.
  • Train and improve continuous improvement staff to meet required KPI’s.
  • Promote innovation through research of new equipment technology & promote innovation.
  • Co-ordinate Kaizen improvement initiatives at plant level.
  • Act as Champion for problem solving activities (6 Sigma) and co-ordinate Kaizen improvement initiatives at plant level.
  • Define and implement MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
  • Track and facilitate timely completion of project deliverables. Review and advise on engineering design progress and status according to the project plan and project objectives.
  • Create FMEA templates to increase comprehensiveness and reduce compilation time.
  • Co-ordinate the integration of the operational plans with engineering systems to ensure maximum plant availability according to organisational objectives, ensuring optimum facility layout.
  • Ensure effective integration with existing application of technology through collaboration with the relevant stakeholders regarding technical issues
  • Participate in the process of defining Best Business Practice criteria and use information collected to leverage the implementation of a specific plants best practice in the other operational areas
  • Create Control Plan templates to increase comprehensiveness of Control Plan and reduce new project control plan compilation time.
  • Actively participate in the reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Conduct analysis of audit reports and review with process owners.
