Information Systems Data Architect Senior

The role of the Information Systems Data Architect Senior includes (but is not limited to) the following duties:

- Manage the development of structural requirements by analysing the organisational systems and reviewing the objectives of the organisation;

- Manage and oversee the coordination with the data science department to identify future needs and requirements;

- Implement data architecture strategies as defined for subject areas in the enterprise;

- Manage the collaboration with business and corporate information technology when implementing a data strategy;

- Implement a data governance framework that covers roles, policies, standards, data dictionary / metadata, data quality, data mapping / lineage, data security and data stewardship;

- Communicate plans, statuses and issues to key stakeholders;

- Manage the development and review the conceptual and physical data models with data flow diagrams; and

- Implement a data integration framework between systems inside and outside of the organisation.

Minimum Requirements:

- Seven (7) – fifteen (15) years of information systems data architect experience.

- Appropriate and recognised formal data architect related tertiary qualification.

- Experience in at least two of the following areas, but with knowledge of all:

1) Database design and implementation;

2) Database management systems;

3) Data governance;

4) Data modelling;

5) Data integration.

The general skills required for this position are:

- Outstanding presentation skills on presenting technical information;

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint;

- Excellent written and facilitation skills; and

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, quickly changing and sometimes unstructured environment.

The technical skills required for this position are:

- Comprehensive experience in gathering and analysing data related requirements;

- Pronounced ability in conceptual and physical data modelling;

- Pronounced ability in Structured Query Language (SQL) scripting;

- Solid understanding of database design and implementation (at least one of the following: operational database, data warehouse, data lake and big data);

- Solid understanding of database management systems (at least one of the following: relational, in-memory, massively parallel processing and distributed file system);

- Comprehensive knowledge to develop data governance framework (policies, rules and standards);

- Solid understanding of data modelling (dimensional and/or normal form);

- Solid understanding of data integration and data integration tools;

- Solid knowledge of database design, management and implementation (at least one of the following: operational database, data warehouse, data lake and big data);

- Solid knowledge of data modelling (dimensional and/or normal form); and

- Solid knowledge of data reporting and visualisation tools.
