POSITION INFO:
Our client is looking for an experience Internal Auditor with strong understanding in finance accounting who comes from a Retail / Commercial / FMCG background.
The Role:
- Timely completion of risk based annual operational and financial audits across the African franchisee market in line with the company’s internal audit approach, plan and agreements
- Report on and or refer deviations to Compliance finance manager for review and distribution to the organisation, and all applicable stakeholders
- The internal auditor will be responsible for loss prevention audits as well as development reviews of equity owned restaurants which will include on-site reviews at Equity stores and interaction with the OPS staff
- Report on and or refer deviations to Internal Auditor for review and distribution to organisation and Operations Teams
- The internal auditor will be responsible for Executing RSC Internal Audit Reviews as per Risk & Control Matrix, company’s internal audit approach, plan and agreements.
- Report on and or refer deviations to Internal Audit Manager for review and distribution to organisation
- Keeping SOX process documents up to date and in line with Global expectations and ensuring compliance with SOX controls by the broader finance team
- Preparation of monthly VAT returns
- Supporting Compliance financial manager during the statutory audit and financial statement preparation process
- Compliance with local financial reporting requirements
- Supporting the Compliance finance manager to implement a risk and governance framework
- Communication required:
- Support OPS team to improve and uphold required loss prevention policies and procedures. Support the Franchise Business Partners to uphold enforce compliance to applicable franchisee policies (IFA, FPM, etc.). Draft reports for review and distribution to related stakeholders (including franchisees). Assist with resolving issues with LT, Legal, Finance and Operations function
- Problem-Solving and Analysis:
- Develop new approaches to the performance of franchisee and Equity owned restaurants reviews. Reviewing and evaluating RSC business units and Equity restaurants by identifying cost effective loss prevention measures to ensure better controls, policies and procedures are in place and adhered to. Assist in identifying and action franchisee non-compliance with clauses in IFA: Eg audit and investigate under or over reported sales, under or over paid fees, under spent or spending on non-qualifying marketing expenses, statutory non-compliance (VAT, workman’s Compensation), financial health (liquidity, solvency, debt-equity), Insurance cover. Follow up and influence behaviours to resolve issues.
- Judgement & Decision Making:
- Findings made are normally followed by recommendations. Professional judgement when working with FZ and OPS information. Interpretation of annual financial statements as well as policies and procedures.
- Innovation:
- Enhance and modify existing processes by using learnings on risks, governance, global best practices and technological advances
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- BCom in Financial Accounting
- Successfully completed SAICA articles within a reputable firm
- Membership in good standing with the Institute of Internal Auditors/SAICA/SAIPA (very advantageous)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 3 – 5 Years’ experience in finance accounting with strong internal auditing, specifically around the verification and effectiveness of internal controls, financial statement analysis and procedures within the Retail/Commercial/FMCG environment
- A sound knowledge of a risk and governance environment will be beneficial for the individual to be successful in the role
- Knowledge IIA Code of Ethics, Rules of Conduct and IPPF are a requirement
- Strong IT skills and competency in Computer assisted Audit Techniques (CAAT’S)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong report writing and communication skills. (Ability to have tough conversations)
- Solid financial statements analysis and interpretation skills (liquidity, solvency, debt-equity, etc.)
- Willing to travel in South Africa and rest of Africa
- Micros/GAAP POS knowledge and experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
