JOB SUMMARY:

A well-established manufacturer of food and feed products is seeking a strong Inventory Manager to manage inventory activities for all internal and external warehouses across all regions, through planning and controlling resource allocation, monitoring the application of procedures, and implementing measures to maintain accurate inventory levels with the aim to accomplish key business objectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a Finance/Supply Chain/Commercial related tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 6 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in an FMCG environment is essential
  • A strong financial background with good understanding of warehousing operations will be required
  • Must have strong computer skills and working knowledge of Stock Tracking Systems
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel on occasion

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the administrative applications and processes associated with controlling Inventory movement and levels.
  • Scheduling, controlling and analysing stock verification processes and audit verification processes to establish the accuracy of stock counts at external warehouses/ depots.
  • Utilising Stock Tracking System applications and Closed Circuit Cameras to monitor the movement of products.
  • Reconciling inward/ outward movement of products, referring to sales, internal/ external stock transfers and production information and comparing with stock balances.
  • Preparing procedural and performance reports referring to statistical data and qualitative information related to initiatives, activities and outcomes of the Section for the attention of the immediate superior.
  • Manipulating system information and extracting system reports (stock movement, stock levels, etc.) depicting trends for analysis and/ or discussion at planning processes.
  • Completing and/ or approving specific transactional, instructional and procedural forms/ documents (requisitions, leave applications, notifications and circulars, stock transfer and adjustment), referring to procedures and/ or policy guidelines prior to submitting for processing or circulation.
  • Assessing personnel understanding and awareness and instituting measures to address/ inform and educate.
  • Monitoring incidents/ occurrences of deviations, conducting investigations to establish cause and assessing the relevance of specific corrective actions.
  • Establishing conformance to administrative standards in respect of information update, reporting and recordkeeping, perusing system records, and seeking reasons for and correcting variations or inaccuracies.
  • Managing the planning and alignment of functional key performance areas to support the critical business objective.
  • Preparing operating expenditure estimates, referring to trends and forward plans and forwarding to the immediate superior for consideration and inclusion in the consolidated departmental budget proposal.
  • Investigating and recommending improvements to current Inventory Management procedures, systems and controls (i.e. Inventory Control; Inventory Audit, Information Systems, etc.) and monitoring the introduction and implementation of approved changes to processes.
  • Developing standards for assessment and continuous improvement of the operations, analysing processes and establishing appropriate measures and norms to serve as indicators of productivity and performance.
  • Participating in the recruitment process to enable proper identification and appointment of key skills to specific roles within the Department.
Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
