Reputable Global Private Equity firm is seeking an Investment Analyst to form part and support their dynamic team of Senior Investment professionals with a focus on Africa and Infrastructure | Renewable Energy | Water.

One would describe you as a highly analytical and creative problem solver who possesses strong project process management skills as well as solid financial acumen with the capacity to demonstrate knowledge of and insight into financial principles, processes and the proven ability to identify inconsistencies in data.

Qualification, Skills and Experience required:

• Honours Financial or Engineering degree or equivalent
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience within Private Equity or Asset Management/ Investment Banking (M&A, corporate finance or project finance) with previous experience in Infrastructure (preferred), Renewable Energy, Power or Water sector preferably
• Proven ability to work across technical/financial and legal aspects of a transaction and work with various specialists internally and with government/shareholder/lender type stakeholders to provide transaction leadership
• Strong and proven financial modelling skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (proficiency in French or Spanish is not required but would be a distinguishing competency)
• Technically proficient (Advanced) in Excel, Word, PowerPoint essential
• Experience with working in Africa or other emerging markets is advantageous!

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute and ensure best practice is implemented in terms of accounting, financial management and financial reporting including the company secretarial mandate for all assets.
• Contribute to portfolio management workstreams of African assets which includes compliance, capital and financial management and profitability
• Use of various valuation methods to calculate project/business EV and IRR
• Work with the Asset Manager to identify financial and technical risk areas and develop optimal solutions
• Understand and track asset performance, run sensitivities against the financial model
• Assist with preparation of reports for the Board and Investors
• Collaboration with the Investment team to ensure full understanding of the transaction roadmap followed in order to monitor required asset performance
• Leveraging experience across the renewable energy assets through representation on joint committees
• Coordination of board meetings supporting the board members with information and analysis
• Report on the financial performance of assets to the business and investors
• Manage asset cashflow requirements including construction drawdowns, debt service, supplier invoices and shareholder distributions
• Manage and optimise hedging strategy, including FX, interest rate and inflation exposures
• Analyse future hedging needs and work with lenders and hedging banks to roll-forward or cancel hedging as required
• Develop strong working relationships with the project finance lender agency teams to ensure that assets meet their obligations under the finance documents
• Portfolio valuation - Financial model and sensitivity analysis including Cash Flow value enhancement
• Management of contractors (commercial, technical and maintenance), management of the relationship with public authorities and other shareholders
